SNAP Information
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, SNAP, is a governmental program designed to alleviate food insecurity. College students may be eligible for this program, but many may not know they are eligible. The Hope Center reported that 69% of college students who are eligible for benefits are not currently receiving them.
In order to be eligible to apply, you must have a SSN (or have had a green card for 5+ years OR be a refugee/asylee) and meet the SNAP income guidelines in order to be eligible. College students are eligible to receive benefits if they do one of the following: work 20 hours a week, work a work study job for any amount of hours, or participate in an on-the-job training program.
